Clarissa Campello
lives and works in Juazeiro, Bahia
Born in Vitória, Espírito Santo, in 1978, she is an artist and, since February 2013, associate professor at the Universidade Federal do Vale do São Francisco (UNIVASF). She holds a doctorate (2012) and a master's (2004) in Visual Languages from the postgraduate programme in Visual Arts at UFRJ, where she also graduated in Painting (2001). She was mapped by the Rumos Itaú Cultural Visual Arts programme in 2001–2003, received the Interferências Urbanas Prize in Rio de Janeiro in 2008 and the SPA das Artes grant in Recife in 2009, and completed the advanced programme at the Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage in Rio.
She was selected for the 62nd Salão de Abril in Fortaleza and awarded its travel grant, took part in Sinais do Fazer — Urban Interventions in Everyday Space in Juazeiro do Norte, and in the first Bienal do Barro in Caruaru, among other group and solo shows. Her work investigates the relevance of painting today. She lives and works in Juazeiro, Bahia.
