Emília Simon

The artist investigates everyday life through figures that seem displaced from the dominant social clock. Her works begin from ordinary scenes — bodies in circulation, in waiting or in refusal — to build images in which the system of values, productivity and constant updating shows itself to be fragile, abstract and at times absurd.

With a language that combines intense colour, subtle humour and estrangement, her painting explores ways of existing at the margins of the logic of consumption and disposal, proposing permanence, excess and deceleration as political gestures.
