Santiago

Santiago is a visual artist, creative director and designer born in Petrolina, Pernambuco. He is studying for a teaching degree in Visual Arts at UNIVASF, based in Juazeiro, Bahia.

“Art and identity have always been central to Santiago. His experience in theatre echoes in his canvases, now intensified by academic training, giving voice to his pictorial narrative. In his paintings the river becomes a symbol of crossing and resistance. Bluish figures come to life in a poetic universe, reflecting identity and the many dimensions of being a dissident Black man.”
