The collection is private, but it is not closed. Works may be requested for exhibitions, publications and research.

How to see the collection

The most direct way is here: all 165 works are fully catalogued and published, with complete technical records and, where one exists, a text about the artist. The collection can be browsed by medium, decade, artist or free search.

The collection is also published work by work on @colecao_josemar.antonio, which serves as the diary of its formation.

Visits in person

The collection is in Salvador and has no exhibition space open to the public. Visits by researchers, curators, students and professionals in the field are received by prior appointment, subject to the collector's availability.

Loan of works

The collection lends works for institutional exhibitions, curated shows, publications and research projects. Loans are free of charge; transport, insurance, installation and any conservation measures are borne by the requesting institution.

What a request should include

Responsible institution or venue, with contact details
Title of the exhibition or publication, curator and concept
Dates and venue, including any tour
List of works requested, identified by artist and title
Conditions of the space: security, climate and light control
Nail-to-nail insurance cover and transport plan

How it works

First contactSend the proposal at least three months before installation.
AssessmentThe relevance of the project and the conservation and security conditions of the space are assessed.
Confirmation and contractOnce the final list is agreed, a loan agreement is signed with a condition report for each work.
Transport and installationPacking, transport and insurance are the responsibility of the institution, with technical supervision.
ReturnA new condition report is made at deinstallation and the works return to the collection.

Credit line required. On labels, catalogues, press releases and captions, works must be credited as Coleção Josemar Antonio, Salvador. Reproduction of images also requires the authorisation of the artist or their rights holders.

Research and press

Researchers may request additional catalogue data, high-resolution images and access to documentation. Press enquiries about the collection or about artists in it follow the same channel.
