Fernanda Azou's pictorial research emerges from observing generational behaviour, focusing on the self-destructive conduct of young adults. Appropriating the cinematic term “gore”, the artist is guided by a feeling of powerlessness and addresses violence not as an idealisation of catastrophe but as a representation of the abject side of reality.
