About the artist
Abraão Veloso is a visual artist born in Ipatinga, Minas Gerais. He lives and works in Goiânia, Goiás.
He holds a BA in Visual Arts from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, works as an assistant on the Projeto Sertão Negro — Atelier and Art School, and is a member of the Grupo Jatobá Nascente in Goiás. He works across several artistic fields, with painting and weaving as his principal media. His work centres on the minutiae of everyday life, on affection, and on the representation and ancestry of the Black male body, moving between the intimate and the personal but also between the universal and the political.
