About the artist
Born in Curralinho, on the island of Marajó, Brazil, she lives and works between Belém and Marajó. Her practice brings together muralism, painting and work based on abstraction and on the defragmentation of elements of Amazonian popular culture. Working with intense colour, organic forms and references to riverside daily life, Savannah builds imaginaries of resistance and cultural celebration. Her work draws on peripheral experience and on the living cosmologies within the riverside and urban imaginaries of northern Brazil.
